A new political social networking website has recently been launched in the United States in the lead up to congressional elections in November. The site enables voters to communicate their views with one another, fostering discussion of key issues and educating the general electorate on matters of security, foreign policy and currently tabled bills in the house.
It is a free website encouraging users to share their views, promote preferred candidates and cast virtual ballots on a number of key issues. While the said is to remain non-partisan, according to webmaster and managing director Anna Chase, there is definite demand for polling results and discussions maintained on the site amongst pundits and various bi-partisan organizations. Chase suggests the site will encourage Americans to “vote smarter, elect better candidates and vote on the issues that best fit the needs of the people". Nonetheless it would be difficult not to suspect a profit motive, given web hosting and maintenance costs, and especially as the site does not receive any direct government funding.
