As the 24th annual Leeds International Film Festival gets underway, organizers have opted for
free hosting of relevant information on a designated website to make for an interactive, user friendly festival experience. Rather than a conventional print-based festival guide, executives opted for a digital version which incorporates maps, interviews, venue information and film reviews.
Users are invited to plan their festival itineraries online, and consult screen times and ratings before choosing which events they would like to attend. As the Leeds Film Festival is the largest UK event of its kind taking place outside of London, the new site helps streamline what might otherwise be a confusing selection process for festivalgoers.
Creative coordinator Martin Grund lobbied for the site’s importance by saying ""the number of films the festival features means it can be very difficult for people to choose what they want to see and when. The website is exactly the tool they need"".
Domain hosting the festival guide online is also meant to increase participation and collaboration for people who are unable to attend the event in person.
